And Just Like That – Why Season 3 Lost the Spark of Sex and the City

Bonjour Fashion Lovers,

As I watch season three of And Just Like That, I say this with genuine regret: I miss the elegant thematic rhythm and sharp wit that defined the finest moments of Sex and the City. That clever writing, that unspoken cadence of friendship, fashion, and life—it’s gone.

And so, too, are the women we once knew. Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte feel like distant echoes of the characters we loved. Their dynamics—once rich, nuanced, and painfully real—now seem flattened into caricature, tangled in social dialogues that feel more scripted than lived.

Yes, the return of Carrie’s voiceover is a welcomed touch. That familiar tone, once so intimate and reflective, reminds us of what the series used to be. But even her narration can't fully bring back the soul we’re missing. Something essential—something in the writing, in the pacing, in the emotional depth—has quietly slipped away.

The introduction of new friends, while well-acted, doesn’t fill the void left by Samantha. Her absence still lingers, sharp and unapologetic. No amount of charm or diversity of character seems able to recreate the chemistry that once made four women at brunch feel like the center of the universe.

Where is Carrie—free, introspective, complicated, independent? Miranda, once a fierce feminist with dry humor and emotional depth, is now barely recognizable. And Charlotte, the eternal romantic, feels stuck in a storyline that confuses nostalgia with self-parody.

This season, sadly, is the weakest yet. We’re not watching a continuation—we’re watching a simulation.

And just like that… we’re left wondering if we’ll ever get them back.
