Rosita Missoni has passed away

Bonjour fashion lovers.

I'm really struggling to write my first blog post about the loss of Rosita Missoni. I wish I could be writing about something else, but it feels wrong not to acknowledge her passing.

One of the iconic women of the fashion world, who together with her husband Ottavio created one of the most appreciated, loved, and celebrated brands of Made in Italy, has decided to leave us. A vibrant, determined, passionate, creative, and never ordinary woman. With the Missoni brand, the concept of color and knitwear was rewritten, becoming fashion thanks to their modern vision.

In 1953, Ottavio and Rosita founded the company, the year of their marriage.

Everything began in a small workshop in the basement of their home in Gallarate, followed by the first collaboration with the Biki boutique in Milan, but the breakthrough came in 1958 with La Rinascente. Anna Piaggi was the first to discover and write about them in her fashion pages, dedicating her first cover to them in 1967.

The first fashion show took place in 1966, and the following year it was the turn of Palazzo Pitti. But it was from the 1970s onwards that the Missoni brand truly asserted itself with its unprecedented use of colors, and the mixing and overlapping of patterns.

The success was unstoppable.

She's now with her Ottavio.
