Bonjour fashion lovers.
If you want to spend a few hours immersed in lightheartedness, irony, and fashion that goes hand in hand with inclusiveness, you need to watch "Survival of the Thickest" on Netflix.ù
Michelle Buteau, its protagonist and author, literally kidnapped me.
It's been a long time since I've seen a TV series deal with different topics with such a delicate touch.
Love, friendship, sex, racism, betrayal are addressed and treated in the right way.
Are there any flaws? Perhaps some will find that some scenes are grotesque or some of the supporting characters are excessive , but these are flaws that go by the wayside.
The outfits worn by Michelle/Mavis are adorable! The costume designer, Keia Bounds did a wonderful job and said: “She’s AMAZING! To work with her as a woman, as a Black woman, as a curvy woman! Like all these things, Michelle is hilarious! She’s not the kind of hilarious that you wish they would turn off either. She’s just herself and just naturally funny and naturally brilliant. It was fun!”
Please give us more Michelle, we need her!
Ps: the dialogue in the video you see here is just great! The actor who plays Luca (the Italian guy) is Marouane Zotti.
